“Dedicated to supporting families suffering from congenital heart defects through awareness & financial relief.”
Hearts of Steel Foundation is a recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation founded on 1-14-2015 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Our primary goal is to provide local families with funding to financially assist them through long-term hospital stays, surgeries & the (lifelong) medical needs that come with Congenital Heart Defects.
It is not uncommon for one/both parents to stop working outside the home in order to care for their child & adhere to their daunting appointment schedule. CHD children are often repeat hospital patients whether from cardiac distress or to aid with illnesses, as their bodies cannot fight infection as well as a healthy child.
Many Oklahoma families end up displaced & separated for cardiac care, as there is no transplant facility in the entire state. Often, Oklahoma kids are sent to St. Louis, Dallas & Little Rock in order to receive critical care and/or more obscure surgeries. The costs are lifelong & monumental, even with proper insurance coverage.
Here are some of the ways The Hearts Of Steel Foundation of Oklahoma can help families focus on their sick children & not the burden of bills:
| Mortgage or rent payments|
Medical bill payments
Lodging expenses for out of town care
| Air fare expenses for out of state care|
Gas expenses for ground travel to other cities
Providing grocery necessities
Purchasing clothing necessities for children & siblings
Medical supplies not covered by insurance
For the protection of our families & donors, no cash will transact between parties. All bills/gifts will be paid for directly by the foundation or in the form of a pre-printed money order, for the exact amount due.
